TimesTen
TimesTen is a very fast, embeddable, real-time, in-memory database engine.
TimesTen has the ability to cache transactions and synchronize data with a centralized Oracle Database. It functions as a real-time computing infrastructure software product designed for low latency, high-volume data, sense and respond to business-critical events, and transaction management.
The TimesTen engine is intensively used in the telecoms and financial markets, because of its very high performance and robust reliability. One such example is the Amdocs billing engine.
The command line interface to TopTen is called ttisql (similar to SQL*Plus).
History
TimesTen was formed as a spin-off from HP Labs (Palo Alto) in November 1996.
Oracle Corporation acquired TimesTen, Inc. in June 2005 to extend its Oracle Database and Oracle Fusion Middleware offerings.
