Port

A port is a number that TCP uses to route transmitted data to and from a particular program.
Some examples:
- The Oracle Listener listens for incoming connections on a predefined port number (normally 1521 or 1526)
- FTP used port 21
- Telnet uses port 23
- SMTP used port 25
