Oracle 2 was the first commercially available version of the Oracle database and also the first relational database on the market to use SQL.

- First public release
- Basic SQL functionality, queries and joins
- CONNECT BY queries
- Written in pdp-11 assembly language, ran on vax/vms in compatibility mode
