Data is unprocessed raw information. Data is normally stored in a database or flat files.
According to Fundamentals of Database Systems (Elmasri & Navathe) data is: "Known facts that can be recorded and have implicit meaning."
Tongue in cheek definition: Information is what people want. Data is what they normally get. |
A company's data is normally one of its most important asset. And, as it's important, is should really be stored in a decent database and backed-up regularly.
