In retrospect, I suspect Noons was chuckling to himself in Portugese something like "Joel almost got it, but I'll keep playing until someone says the magic words." Note that the link in the body of that post has references to "source-code available software" or 'cooperatively developed' being preferred to "free software."

The whole semantics portion of this thread is an object lesson (Wait! Define object! ;-) in how not to expect intelligent people to come to a particular conclusion given a word problem. Instructors and mentors and OCP exam developers, take note.
