If you are already running on Solaris, I see little reason to move to AIX. IBM is shifting its focus to Linux. The future of AIX remains to be seen. I have discussed this with some folks in another newgroup before. They seemed to think IBM may eventually replace AIX with Linux.

AIX does have great menu-driven system management tools, but Solaris also has excellent features. Maybe you can be more specific about what features you are looking for. From my experience Oracle only requires a few kernel configuration changes.

Also be aware Oracle no longer support 32-bit version of latest 9i for AIX. You have to get 64-bit version. Received on Fri Sep 20 2002 - 20:53:21 CDT
