ODBC is a Microsoft proprietary standard for the Windows operating system, utilising the Windows architectures and APIs. Once again Microsoft did their own thing and screwed the real open standards for cross platform portability.

I seriously doubt that the standard ODBC v3.0 API is portable to Unix without some (major?) changes.

Question. Why want an ODBC driver on DEC Unix? Surely there are no real production/commercial software out there that are -ODBC!!- clients on Unix!? Why on earth want to use ODBC on Unix? It's like wanting to run Windows on Unix <shuddering at the thought>.

Someone should have taken a leadpipe and beat that shitty ODBC API to death a long time ago.
