I hate MS and I love UNIX, but IIS3 does have a lot to offer this time, especially the Active Server Pages. With ASP I was able to interface with Oracle without having to write any CGI, or IDX, etc. Just some copy-and-paste scripting did the job. It's scary how MS is taking over the market by sacrificing performance and reliability for features. And the sad fact is that most people either don't care, or don't know about performance and reliability. I remember some book saying that for MS, timing is everything. They are willing to release (most) unfinished products just to meet the deadline.
