The control plane does not have yet support for snapshot standby or multiple standby databases.
But... there should be no problem with temporarily converting the standby database to a snapshot standby MANUALLY. You will just get warnings in the control plane (database "Yellow" or "Red") because the status is not the one expected.

You can also still have multiple standby databases by configuring Data Guard manually. In that case, you probably want to skip the automatic Data Guard association and configure Data Guard manually from scratch. I know it's not fully automated, but it seems more reasonable than the steps you are actually doing :-)
