Education stream will not help with high pricing. At the end of the day, it's all about money. Oracle has changed the business model, they are going after demanding customers who are willing to pay the premium price. On the low end, cheaper databases are eating their lunch. Oracle cannot compete against the open source products, especially if all that the customer needs is a standard SQL. I understand their decision and hope it works for them.
