Agreed! The major problem is that, at a list price of US$17500/core, it
is a little difficult to ignore unless you have a ULA. It is possible
to provision several substantial VMs in public cloud and still have change.
Infra costs are a fraction of Oracle licensing costs, never mind the
non-discountable annual support subscriptions that nobody seems to want
to bring up in TCO discussions.
I think Oracle is worth it, and so apparently do most of its customers,
but additional licensing for the multi-tenant option is hard to justify
without a ULA.
