2) Oracle has finally put "IMMEDIATE" in the dbshut procedure!!!!

There must be at least 50,000 DBA's that have been doing that hack for years. I recall when 8 came out and it simply didn't work with 7.3 databases.

Backing up your customized dbshut was a prereq for upgrade.
