On JFS Version 9.2.0 was supporting direct I/O, while 10g is not. I can set FILESYSTEMIO_OPTIONS to asynch, but not to "directio". As JFS does support DIRECTIO, I believe this to be a bug. From performance point of view, it's a rather serious one. I'll report it on metalink.
