We are currently testing Parallel Query Option in 7.2 prior to moving it into production and recently found out that 7.2.2.3 had some fairly serious bugs.

You might want to check for release patch 7.2.2.4 on your platform. It may or may not have anything to do with your current problem but a reading of the bug fix sheet included with the 7.2.2.4 release was enough to scare me.
