PeopleSoft is a set of Human Resource Management Systems (HRMS), Customer relationship management (CRM), Manufacturing, Financials, Enterprise Performance Management and Student Administration software solutions for large corporations, governments, and organizations.

History[edit]

PeopleSoft, Inc. was founded in 1987 by David Duffield and Ken Morris in Walnut Creek, CA, USA. In 2003 the company acquired its rival JD Edwards.

In January 2005, Oracle Corporation acquired PeopleSoft in a hostile takeover. This takeover was resisted, but Oracle overcame the legal challenge and PeopleSoft ceased to be an independent company, although its products continue to be used.

Future[edit]

PeopleSoft products are still developed, sold and supported by Oracle Corporation. Much of this functionality will eventually be integrated into Fusion Applications, Oracle's next generation applications suite.
