Book
Oracle Book was an end-user tool for creating and viewing online documents, such as manuals, catalogs, documentation, and other materials.
The product arranged data so that it can be easily manipulated and included sound, image, and video capabilities. Users could click on hypertext links to access more detailed information. Word and phrase searches were supported and users could make electronic annotation through text, image, or sound. It could be integrated with Oracle's cooperative Development Environment 2 (CDE2) and other programming environments to provide context-sensitive, online help systems, or to call out from documents to related programs.
The product supported Windows, Motif and character-mode interfaces. Supported platforms included: Windows, Macintosh, OS/2, Unix, and VMS.
History[edit]
Oracle Book was used to distribute the Oracle Documentation Set. However, it was abandoned after Oracle started to provide their documentation in HTML and PDF formats.
