While I obviously see the need for standardized vocabularies, I just hate this particular ISO definition. Long before the ISO existed and before computers were even a twinkle in babbages eye, scientist were avidly collecting "data". Reams and Reams of it in fact. To say data is only information suitable for machine processing is simply crap, surely?
