Hoi mAmsterdam,

No, I'm not attracted to Nijssen's "kenniskunde" (how on earth would one translate THAT in English?) at all. I am still very much convinced that Nijssen's early work (for the not-informed: Nijssen and Halpin are the two founding fathers of what is now known as NIAM to the Dutch and ORM in the English-spoken community). I still use NIAM whenever I get the opportunity.

But Nijssen has moved on. He is no longer interested in databases, he is now interested in analyzing knowledge to make transfer of knowledge more efficient. His move from NIAM to Kenniskunde might or might not be beneficial to *that* goal, I don't know. But when I have to perform information analysis for an IT project, I'll choose NIAM over Kenniskunde everytime.

I don't have the time to read all discussions that are going on here. Are you referring to a specific discussion? Or are you even implying that there are people here who think (gasp!!) that the information in a database doesn't need to mean anything to it's users?

Geeft niks. Het zij je vergeven.

Best, Hugo
