Try using ^^ ^^ as the search string and ^^^^ as the replace with..
Like:
I had:
^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^
( I then used search ^^ ^^ and replace with ^^^^ ) I got
^^ ^^ ^^
Isn't this what you wanted?
( The ^ is a special character in UltraEdit so it takes special handling to actually use it in expressions, I guess)
