For rac fireware the hardware must be carefully selected and even so getting the full rac firewire setup "stable" is tricky at best.
Jeffrey Hunter at http://www.idvevelopment.info does have a bunch of firewire articles that I was able to get through and get a useable system.
For more fun and less stress though there are 2 other alternatives that you may want to think about ( also on Jeffrey's site ). First is the iSCSI setup ( one server serves up ( like netapp kinda ) iSCSI ) the other 2 machines use iSCSI and do the full rac thing.
Or you can "all in one machine" do a complete 2 node VMWARE configuration. ( Tends to be very sluggish though ).
