Guy, if you're using ASM and in a workgroup (versus a domain), there is a bug on Oracle's Metalink site under Note:330627.1 that you should look at to see if it's what's affecting you.
At the time of the document writing, it was fixed with a patchset that wasn't yet released (once again, at the time the document was written in August 2005).
