I've never used the PDF version of the Oracle docs. I don't typically have Acrobat Reader running, which means launching the PDF requires me to wait for the Reader to start, and then load the PDF document. I like the HTML version better because I typically have a web browser running, but that just may be a difference in preferences.

Not sure if it helps you or not, but you can go to Technet (http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/index.html) and click on your database version. You can download a zip file containing all of the documentation and add it to your workstation so that you do not have to rely on online access to view the docs. Some of the docs even come in PDF format.
