We had 50/50 sucess.

copy cold backup files to the new server, restore to what appears to be the original location after creating a database there.

Sometimes worked.

Sometimes didn't.

Rman to a shared mount point does work (now) but at the time we didn't have that option.

Some co-workers in a different city apparently broke a disk mirror, took the 6 disks to a new machine, mounted them on the new machine, did a media recovery and brought it all up. Worked great, we were all astounded. But machine has been forever troublesome after that. Received on Thu Mar 09 2006 - 20:07:20 CST
