My onle experience is only limited in the below a) install one database with one instance in one server, hence one sid, one dbname
b) install one database with one instance in one server. I did this the second time hence 2 separate sid and dbname .

2) From now, with (b), i could actually install one database but 2 instances? The only difference will be the datafiles?

I hoped that i am making sense here. My current understanding

i) An instance is a set of processes and memory structures ii) A database is a set of physical files.

Please advise. Received on Sun Aug 07 2005 - 22:47:44 CDT
