I heard that a lot of oracle growth in linux was due to migrations by customers of solaris to linux.

Think the DB2 flat rate might be due to more IBM customers staying with AIX than Sun customers staying with Solaris? Not to say that AIX is better than Sun, but it certainly has a more solvent & solid company behind it.

I typically recommend solaris for oracle, but these days it seems like everyone wants to go with linux instead of solaris. DB2 on the other hand works best with aix - but those ibm p-series boxes are pretty cool, not much more than intel, and can run either aix or linux. Received on Sat Jun 19 2004 - 12:36:07 CDT
