Oracle 9.2.0.5 patch set installation on HPU NIX

Oracle 9.2.0.5 installation on top of Oracle9.2.0.1 is really confusing. Eventhough I have read several articles on metalnk, it is still confusing,

I know 9.2.0.5 comes with 10.x OUI. I did following steps:

Extract the patch in a directory /CDdepot/patches/9205
Ran the installer /CDdepot/patches/9205/Disk1/runInstaller

It asked me to choose a OUI HOME, I chose it as $ORACLE_HOME/OUI10x where ORACLE_HOME is /oracle/product/9.2/OUI10x.

3. I then installed the new Oracleinstaller in /oracle/product/9.2/OUI10x
the new installer was installed.

4. Now I invoked the new
installer:/oracle/product/9.2/OUI10x/oui/bin/runInstaller

It shows me the OUI Home as /oracle/product/9.2 (if I choose this it says
thsi OUI home alreday exists, If I choose /oracle/product/9.2/OUI10x as OUI ome and instal the patch, it says There is no patch that needs to be sinatlled.

Are there installation isntrctions documented somewhere because many people have gone through the pain.
