Stop right there. Our experience shows that the Adaptec RAID card under Linux kernel 2.4.latest as of about a month ago is much, much slower than the equivalent Mylex DAC960-driver raid card.
So much slower in our environment that we put our "spare" mylex card in the new failover computer that used to have the adaptec card.
