The reason for this is believing Oracle 8i will automatically run on
a platform for which it never certified, in conjunction with the
belief all Microsux products are always 100 percent downwards
compatible.
It also doesn't make any sense to post questions without including the
tnsnames.ora, especially as the error is described profusely in the
troubleshooting section of the net8 manual, which you also didn't read
