Hi, Randi,

Oracle documentation gives brief description about some common lock types. Unless they're new in Oracle8 and above, some obscure lock types are documented in Anjo Kolk's paper "Description of Oracle7 Wait Events and Enqueues" (not sure if you can still find it on the Internet). Other than that, you have to search on Metalink and/or make educated guess by testing.

BTW, you're confusing lock types with lock modes.
