Norman,
I looked around and grant you that I was wrong. Howard does provide good info when he is not bashing a Burleson book. I will confine my comment on his appearent need to slam Burleson. I have two shelves of books on Oracle and none are perfect. All have their strong areas and weak areas. Every DBA I have talk to using UNIX has had nothing but good comments about The Oracle9i UNIX Admin Handbook. The only bad comments I have come across are folks looking for a UNIX Admin book, which this is not. Howard is riding the high horse, the black knight saving inexperienced DBAs from the evil Burleson.

Had his intentions been to provide assistance his comment would have been either:

I have not read the book and thus don't know if it will help you or
This book does not teach you to write Kron Shell scripts and so it is not what you are looking for.

I guess in a way I am like Howard. I don't like self proclaimed saviors claiming to protect the "little" people.
