Hi Pete (and anyone else that drives crazy installing 9i and Portal ;)

finally i gave up installing, but here is how far i got:

Problem: Installing Portal 3.0.9 into 9i DB

Facts:
-I red Note 160254.1 (How to Install Portal into an Oracle 9i Database) and followed the instructions. -Due to the fact that ORA-1821 DATE FORMAT NOT RECOGNIZED occured executing launch.sh I followed the intructions in Note Note:163268.1 and updated sqlnet clients.
-trying to acces /pls/portal30/portal30.home leeds to HTTP-503 (Service Temporarily Unavailable)
Apache error_log:

[Tue Nov 20 13:27:07 2001] [error] mod_plsql: /pls/portal30/portal30.home HTTP-503 ORA-604 Client Logon Failed with error : 604
9i database log/trace:
woody_ora_17708.trc:

/www/oracle/app/oracle/admin/woody/udump/woody_ora_17708.trc: Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.0.1.1.0 - 64bit Production With the Partitioning option
JServer Release 9.0.1.1.0 - Production
ORACLE_HOME = /www/oracle/app/oracle/product/9.0.1 System name: SunOS
Node name: bello
Release: 5.8
Version: Generic_108528-08
Machine: sun4u

Instance name: WOODY
Redo thread mounted by this instance: 1
Oracle process number: 14
Unix process pid: 17708, image: oracle_at_bello (TNS V1-V3)

SYS.DBMS_SESSION, SYSTEM.OWA_VPD_CTX, SYSTEM.PORTAL_LOGIN all have grant execute to portal30 and i even gave them to public!

So I disabled the SYSTEM.PORTAL_LOGIN_TRIG and login was possible!

Then I got WWC-4149, I tried to run ssodatan but that failed, look into details and recognized that a Object Type is missing and this causes ERRORS

--> droped the users and reinstalled according to Note:135182.1
(Metalink)

a. PORTAL30
b. PORTAL30_DEMO
c. PORTAL30_PUBLIC
d. PORTAL30_SSO
e. PORTAL30_SSO_PUBLIC

i tried to reinstall but falied since laun.sh raised a new error: Class not found: oracle.webdb.config.PortalConfigAssistant even if the opca.jar is in the classpath and all other component did load successfull

Finaly at this Point I gave up installing Portal against 9i DB, please let me know if anyone else suceeds...

thx
