Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> Backing up Oracle, using Legato
We are currently running Oracle 8.0.5.2 on Solaris 2.7 boxes.
We have Unix Shell scripts (with imbedded SQL) performing On-Line Hot
backups nightly.
These backups are performed to disk, and then pulled to tape through a
Legato Client to an Ampex Tape Drive.
Because our Databases are growing rapidly, I would like to eliminate the
disk aspect of the backups, and backup and archive directly to tape.
However, I have been told this isn't possible with Legato without
implementing RMAN.
I would personally prefer not to introduce RMAN, because our current
backup and recovery scheme is working perfectly.
Have I been told incorrectly that it is not possible to backup through
Legato without RMAN?
Any insight would be appreciated, and if need be point me to the
appropriate information on the topic.
Thanks in advance. Received on Wed Jan 19 2000 - 18:45:48 CST
