Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> I tried a registry edit
I did try editing the registry. There were several places where the
path was indeed Z: and I changed it to C:
Then, when I ran the installation program, the home path was changed to
C:, so I could then do the installation of Oracle.
The problem is that after this was done and I ran the install program
again to install one extra item, I got an error message saying "This
program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down." I
tried it several more times and it kept on happening, even after
rebooting. So my thinking is that there may have been another registry
entry that needed to be changed in order for an install on C: to work.
Oddly enough, when I went to Control Panel - Add/Remove, there was no
Oracle listed there. So perhaps I have to go back to my original
version of the registry (I backed it up), delete the Oracle directory
from the hard drive and from there try something else to resolve the
problem, whatever that may be. Thanks for your response. Any more
ideas?
