Unix is the best, for most values of best. If you have all of the following, use NT.
You don't need 7/24.
You have NT expertise and don't have Unix expertise.
You have someone powerful who thinks NT is the future.
You don't have a great deal of batch processing to do.
You won't need to scale up.
Beyond that, it's kind of a tossup, and IMO unix has a better tool set for a production environment. Use dejanews to see the various technical reasons and religious wars for going either way.
