Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> self-education, reference materials for new Oracle DBA?
Hello all,
What would be the minimum/ideal resources, for a new-to-Oracle DBA at a site that was itself not quite at the point of installing Oracle for the first time?
The DBA has experience with Sybase and Interbase. The site will be running 3 commercial packages, but not any applications developed in-house.
Previous experience suggests that the Sun Performance
Tuning and Sun Capacity planning books will be
quite helpful, likewise the Oracle Tuning book
from O'Reilly & Associates. What other materials
or resources will help most, in a situation
where formal Oracle training will not be
scheduled for the DBA until much later, (if ever?)
--Apart from the Oracle documentation itself,
of course.
Thanks in advance,
Steve
