Hello,
I have some problems opening an Oracle 7.1.4 Database. Imagine following scenario:
We decided to attach a different raid system to our UNIX - Box. First
thing we did was a full backup of the system. We connected the new raid
system, copied the files from the old one and remove the old system from
the Unix Box. I started the database - it worked. I began to export the
tables from the DB (I like to have 7.3.2.2 DB). After a while the DB
hung
we had to restart the system. trying to start the Database fails several
times. We detected a HW error on the raid system. After fixing the HW
failure one of our three Volumes was empty. We restored the data from
tape, started the database and now we need to do a recovery.
Now we have the condition : One Volume with data from Backup and two
Volumes with data from today (also control and redo logs). I started the
database again (with recreating the control files) and the startup ends
with the recovery of the database because we have files with new headers
and files with old headers. The redo logs with the required Sequence
were gone with the recreation of the volume so we do not have them.
Unfortunately is our backup from the first volume corrupted and we are
not able to restore the whole database. In my suggestion it must be
possible to open the database with those redo files. The Data itself
didn't change anyway. Our Datafiles are consistent except the sequence
number.
Does anyone has any suggestions, hints or solutions for this kind of
problem ???
Thank's a lot
Detlev
