Problem Description:
Client Connections gets terminated while executing packages. The connection appears on the server for a while and then disappears. Oracle dumps core (sidCORE.LOG) at this moment. The client application thinks that the package is still running and waits. Initially we discovered this problem with Delphi 2.0 applications. At this point Oracle tech support said that it is a problem with Borlands Database Engine. But later we could create the same problem from the ODBC test utility that was downloaded from the Oracle website. is convinced them that it is their problem. They have been working very closely with us since then. But so far the problem has not been solved. This is holding up a production server and help from any body will be highly appreciated. What is funny is that the package works correctly under SQL*Plus, but not through any third party tool like BDE or ODBC. And to make matters worse, Oracle does not have any utlity to analyze a core dump under Windows NT. Our configfuration is as follows:
Oracle 7.3 under Windows NT 3.51
SQL*Net 2.3 running under Microsoft TCP/IP that comes with Windows NT.
Client is also using SQL*Net 2.3 with MS TCP/IP under Windows NT.
The problem is very intermittent and this makes it more difficult to solve. We threw in the Lan Analyzer to examine the tcp packets. The requrest for the package execution is going correctly to the server. We have also sent the SQL*Net and the TNS Listener trace files to Oracle and is waiting on their response. Meanwhile, if any of you have have ideas, please let us know.
Thanks,
Murali
