can a role be assined to a device ?

Hello,

can a role be assigned to a device that sits on a 802.11b wireless network ? This could either be a laptop or a Palm type handheld device ?

We have the wireless network sitting outside of the company firewall and want to limit how the connected devices will talk to the Oracle Data base that these devices will communicate to the Oracle database through the wireless network.
