8i: no listener

I have 8i installed on my machine for training and am having problems
connecting to the database.  When I run Net8 Easy Config I am told
that there is no error.



8i is installed on the same machine that I am trying to connect from,
so the server and client machine are the same.



Any suggestions would be appreciated.
