Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.misc -> Help with installing MS ODBC for Oracle
Hello,
We are running:
- Windows 95 clients (some 98, and NT)
I have what should be a very simple scenario.
We have installed Oracle's (7.3.4) Sqlplus on all our workstations. Now, we just want to be able to connect to the database via Excel and VB. This means ODBC.
I have been getting VERY inconsistent results accross workstations.
We want to:
- download the correct Microsoft ODBC for Oracle driver
Searching the Microsoft site, there is no end to MDAC articles. Some of these articles say that, first we must now also install DCOM onto the clients. I haven't started reading about DCOM very much yet, but I fear that this will in turn have a huge list of things to read about and be aware of, and that we must also install other things on the workstations.
Has anyone done the above? Can anyone give me a simple process to accomplish it?
Does the driver not work on 98?
Thanks in advance,
Argosy
