Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.misc -> Installing Oracle 8.0.5 on Red Hat 6.0
After having problems I went looking on
dejanews for some answers, but the pickings
are very slim. After an hour or so of
clicking around on Red Hat's site all I
could find was:
>Oracle will work on Red Hat Linux 6.0, but
>you will need to use the "compat" packages
>in order to relink Oracle, if you need to
>do so. You will need to patch the Oracle
>Makefiles to use the correct linker from
>the "compat" packages in order to do so.
>In order to install Oracle on Red Hat Linux
>6.0, you will need to choose not to create
>a database at install time; wait until
>after you have relinked Oracle to create
>a database.
This is a wee bit vague and confusing for my tastes...
Has anyone out there successfully done
this? Does anyone know of a site with
more information or a detailed "HOW TO"
style document?
Or, maybe am I better off waiting for a new version of Oracle that will work with RH 6.0? (8i maybe?)
TIA for any input
