OLAP stands for On Line Analytical Processor Normally your data is 2 dimensional for example a spreadsheet but OLAP is 3D or multi dimensional
and the nice thing of it is you can swap your dimensions around as well as drill down or drill up(Meaning summarize or going down example from sales/USA to sales/State ...Sales/shop)
