So if both systems are on the SAME major version, will the Oracle engine manage the translation?
Even if the version is not the same, Oracle will manage
converting big endian to little endian. I have done conversion
from Oracle 11.2.0.4 on AIX 7.1 (big endian) to Linux x86_64,
running on top a very large Dell box. It was a small database,
around 300GB and there weren't any problems. Another software that
will also manage translation from the big endian --> little
endian is Golden Gate. The problem with Golden Gate is its price.
As anything Oracle, GG is exorbitantly expensive.
