Hi Ethan,

I’m not quite sure I fully understood your post but here goes..

  1. You should be able to clone from a standby via Rman.
  2. The convert may be hanging due to network issues. I’ve found that even when we have a missing tnsnames.ora entry at the oci the sqlplus connection attempt just hangs. It doesn’t come back with a tns error!!

Cheers,
Leng

Not sure if you can clone it if it is a snapshot standby. Network connectivity is not available between the two, at least not easily, we will be swinging disk for any media that moves over. Going with full dp export/import for now which is not my preference by a long shot. Don't ask what is being tested. Customer driven and no basis in reality whatsoever.
