Minus the cloud I did this for when I moved from Windows to Linux. Windows
was primary and I created a data guard instance on Linux, ran that way for
a few days then did a switchover. It worked well for that use case, as
for a DR case not sure if it is the best idea. When you do a switch or
fail over you'll have to manually update any directories you use since it
is on a different file system. Plus not sure how familiar you are with
Linux, something to think about. Then there is patching, not sure if there
is any issues with that, downloads are different per OS.
