 ...One other thing you will notice in EL8 is that partprobe is no longer supported.

• El8 doesn't allow partprobe to read the partition table online after its modification. The system will keep requesting a reboot to link these modifications to the kernel. I faced the below error while creating the asm partitions for RAC19 on RHEL8 last year.

/sbin/partprobe /dev/sdc1 /sbin/partprobe /dev/sdc1 ...   default:

To fix this you will need to replace partprobe by "partx -u"
