Microsoft Word Outline feature (unfortunately, Google docs doesn't have anything close). It lets you put down your ideas, add text when you want. Also, if you don't like the logical structure you can drag and drop sections of the outline from one branch to another. Basically, you can unlink structure and logic from sentence structure and vocabulary.
