Well ACFS is a layer on top of ASM and is somewhat slower than ASM. I am maintaining test configuration of ACFS for years and I use it for archive logs. Had no major problems with that, if you don't count forgetting to re-schedule backup after maintenance and filling up the archive directory. As much as I would like to blame Oracle for that, it's my fault. BTW, that is a good reason to use ACFS. You can't use "find" and "rm" with "asmcmd" but you can use those utilities on ACFS.
