Do you really have to encrypt the tablespace? My bet is that 90% of the data does not have to be encrypted. Is this for GDPR?

Subject: Performance and encryption
Hi all,
Looking at implementing encryption on some tablespaces Oracle 12c. I haven't done anything with it for awhile so I have no experience with current processors in the Intel family. Wondering about the performance impact on that. What have you seen in terms of performance when implementing encryption? How does that compare to other options like storage compression?
Thanks
Stephen
