interesting to see you getting into Linux - even if the reason for this is pretty sad.

Brendan Gregg has written a nice catch-up post about this whole ZFS topic along with other things here: http://www.brendangregg.com/blog/2017-09-05/solaris-to-linux-2017.html

However BTRFS is not recommended by Oracle itself even if it is production-ready with UEK2 (MOS ID #2290489.1). I personally use XFS with snapshots in my lab which might be suitable for some of your requirements but not all as it freezes the file system shortly for doing the snap (on LVM level).
